Your PTO has been busy building community this year. A small but dedicated group of parents organized events for nearly every single month of the school year. We hosted parent welcome events in August and January, movie nights in September and November combined with a Halloween costume contest, a Scholastic Book Sale in October, the Santa sale in December, a bingo night in February, the used book sale in April, and Staff Appreciation Day in May. We also sold ISD spirit wear (#jagswag) once a month and provided support for World Culture Month in April and graduation. Our members deserve an enormous amount of thanks for their hard work as a team. We are indebted to all those volunteers who gave of their time and energy!

The PTO had a successful year financially, allowing us to sponsor grants that benefit the greater ISD community. For example, students and teachers have received grants to fund breakfast for the Senegalese robotics team and for the purchase of a red carpet for the high school film awards. We have provided numerous refreshments for school events such as the winter concert, the thespian troupe inauguration, and the IB arts exhibition. We capped off the year providing a graduation gift for each of the 31 seniors that included a beautiful bag designed and hand-sewn by one of our PTO members.

Every year, the ISD family changes and grows. To those treasured friends who are moving on to their next adventure, the PTO wishes you bon voyage and reminds you that once a jaguar, always a jaguar! To those who are staying, we wish you bonnes vacances and look forward to sharing another year with you. To those who may be reading this and have yet to arrive, we are ready and waiting to welcome you!

If you have ideas for events or would like to get involved with the PTO, look out for our first meeting in August. We have already mapped out some events for the 2018-2019 school year and will need volunteers to make the magic happen!
