This afternoon, we welcomed many new families onto campus as part of Open House and their orientation to becoming a part of the ISD community. It is wonderful to have young people, and their families, on campus and we are very much looking forward to a successful and happy school year. I hope to meet many of you tomorrow morning at the Parent Welcome starting at 8:45 AM in the Theater (Performance Arts Center).
Over the past few days, we have had six confirmed cases of Covid in our faculty, 5 of whom are classroom teachers in Elementary School. This means that we will have a few teachers unable to be here on the first day of school unfortunately. It also means that some staff will be wearing masks for the next few days as they have been in close contact with a positive case.
As we all return from summer travels, please remember that one of the best precautions we can have against outbreaks is for anyone with Covid symptoms not to come to school. We also encourage anyone who has concerns that they have been in contact with a positive case to conduct a self-test and they may consider wearing a mask. We remain a mask-optional, unrestricted campus for the start of the school year but I wanted to provide this information about positive cases and advice regarding mitigating measures.
