This week our students in the Middle School have been very fortunate. They have had a wonderful group of students visiting them….the 5th graders! Wednesday during lunch and throughout the week for some classes the 5th graders have gotten to see what life will look like in the Middle School. There are many changes between Elementary School and Middle School; lockers, 8 different teachers, a block schedule, PE uniforms, and more. But the easiest change is the transition from PYP to MYP.
Becoming a 3-program school will help make the transition from 5th to 6th grade much more cohesive as the students’ learning progresses. The units of study look a bit different, and there is a bit more to juggle, but the core of the IB philosophy remains the same, “The International Baccalaureate aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.
"To this end the organization works with schools, governments and international organizations to develop challenging programmes of international education and rigorous assessment.
"These programmes encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.”
The Middle School is excited to welcome the class of 2026 to the MYP in the fall.
