It is hard to believe we are back in full flow here at ISD after the long vacation. The atmosphere has immediately been one of positivity and joy both from young and old, families returning to the community as well as those arriving and being welcomed for the first time.
As many of you will have seen there have been numerous changes and developments to various areas and buildings on the campus all with the goal of helping to make ISD a leading international School in West Africa and across the continent.
As part of the ongoing developments we are delighted to introduce you to the ISD Teranga Centre which is the secondary school’s hub for teaching and learning. The video below is a short introduction into the concept of Teranga and we believe it epitomises the best attributes of our host culture combined with the holistic caring community we know ISD to be.
Our Teranga Centre is located on the ground floor behind Mr Bird’s office and overlooking the basketball courts. Mr Gaucher as Service learning and cultural activities leader, Ms Loria as MYP coordinator / Middle School Assistant Principal and Mr Lennon as DP Coordinator / HIgh School Assistant Principal are in a combined area which seeks to frame the heart of teaching and learning in the Secondary School.
Over the coming weeks we look forward to welcoming you and providing regular updates here to highlight the work we are doing and the learning that is taking place on a daily basis. We are planning on hosting a monthly coffee morning in the Admin conference room to provide opportunities to inform you of developments in teaching and learning at ISD as well as being social and answering any and all questions you may have.
Please do not hesitate to call in and visit us in the Teranga centre at any time. We look forward to seeing you soon.
