Nurse's Notes: Covid-19 Reminders

Dear ISD Community,

As a follow up to Dr. Knobloch’s communication on our updated Health and Safety Protocols, which includes expanding the Daily Home Screening to all members of the household in addition to students, I would like to include the full list of symptoms here:

  • Temperature 100.4 Fahrenheit (38 C) temporal/forehead reading or 100 Fahrenheit (37.8 C) mouth reading

  • Sore throat

  • New uncontrolled cough that causes difficulty breathing (for students with chronic allergic/asthmatic cough, a change in their cough from baseline)

  • Diarrhea, vomiting, or abdominal pain

  • New onset of severe headache, especially with a fever

  • Loss of taste or smell

Please be reminded that if any member of the household is experiencing any of the above symptoms, everyone in the household must be symptom-free for at least 24 hours before the students in the household can return to school.

As always, your child should stay home from school if unwell for any reason.

Please do not hesitate to contact a healthcare provider for further evaluation if your child or anyone in the household is experiencing symptoms or is unwell for any reason.

Don't forget to contact the School Health Clinic directly at nurse@faculty.isd.sn when your child is staying home from school if they are unwell, if they or anyone in the household is undergoing testing for Covid-19, or if they or anyone in the household has been in close contact with someone with Covid-19. It is very important that you notify the Health Clinic as soon as possible so that the clinicians here can investigate and offer you advice on how to proceed.

Thank you,

Nurse Jen
