Notes from the Teranga Center: Students Talk Sustainability

Last Wednesday Wednesday, our secondary students were invited to listen to a talk on the UN Sustainable Development Goals delivered by our guest speaker Mr. Ian Hopwood. As a former UN representative himself with over 40 years experience in developmental work (including extensive work here in Senegal), Mr. Hopwood gave a dynamic speech via Zoom on poverty reduction, child rights advocacy, aid effectiveness, climate change and encouraged students to do their own small part to help alleviate some of these global concerns. As our service framework in the secondary school will be framed around the UN Sustainable Development Goals, we thank Mr. Hopwood for taking time out of his busy schedule to help galvanize and encourage our students to take part in service through meaningful action.
