Notes from the Teranga Center: New and Exciting Changes

It is hard to believe we are back in full flow here at ISD after the long vacation. The atmosphere has immediately been one of positivity and joy both from young and old, families returning to the community as well as those arriving and being welcomed for the first time.

As many of you will have seen there have been numerous changes and developments to various areas and buildings on the campus all with the goal of helping to make ISD a leading international school in West Africa and across the continent.

We welcome you all back to ISD as we begin our second year as an MYP candidate school. We are looking forward to a fantastic year while we deepen our understanding of the MYP and teach engaging units from 6th-10th grades. You might notice a few changes around campus in MYP classrooms; We have 2 new Secondary Art rooms and a brand new “TLC”, Teaching and Learning Center, on the second floor. This year in the MYP we have also added to our academic program by extending our Language Acquisition offerings with 7th and 8th grade Spanish as well as Spanish through 12th grade. We have revamped our MYP Design courses with our two new Design teachers and we have added MYP Dance within our PE department.

The Diploma program also continues to develop and improve, we are delighted that the vast majority of our new Faculty in Secondary have many combined years of experience in delivering both of the IB programs that we offer in Secondary School.

We are very excited about the 2019-2020 school year in the ISD Secondary School. Please stop by the Teranga Center with any questions about the MYP & DP and be sure to come to the Parent Coffee and Learning meeting on Tuesday, September 3rd at 8:30am in the Admin Conference Room.

We look forward to meeting you all and working with your children.
