Notes from the Teranga Center: Lots of Important Milestones in the DP & MYP!

It’s been a busy week back after October break! In the DP the Grade 12’s have begun the registration process for their May final exams - the reality is biting. In the next week or so they will be completing the viva voce, or final interview, for their Extended Essay. This not only serves as a reflective activity but also as a celebration of their efforts over the past year. It’s also one more thing to tick off the to-do list.

Meanwhile, the Grade 11 students are just beginning the Extended Essay. After a soft introduction before the break, Mr. Cartlidge gave them detailed instructions on the task. Teachers will explain the Extended Essay requirements in particular subjects over the next couple of weeks so that the student should be in a position to construct a proposal by mid-November. The Grade 11 students also began Theory of Knowledge last week and we hope that they will be as engaged and interested in this as they are in their other classes.

In the MYP, the Grade 10 students have been pitching their Personal Project proposals to one another. They have some original and creative ideas. Grade 10 parents and students should be on the lookout for an invitation to the Introduction to the IBDP which is scheduled for Thursday, November 18th at 6pm in the PAC. Ms. Gifford and the Heads of Department will be outlining the requirements and course options for the Diploma Programme ahead of the students making their initial choices in December.
