Library News: What to Do with Your Books

Dear ISD Families,

Some of you remained in Dakar and took advantage of the opportunity to check out books from the library. As the school year comes closer to an end, you have a few decisions to make. Do you keep the books you checked out and re-read them over the summer, and then return them in August? Or do you bring them back before the end of the school year?

Just know that when automatic reminders are sent out to families about overdue materials, there is no fine for books that are returned late. If a book is lost, paying the fine can be done by contacting me for an invoice. You can then make a payment with the finance office. Otherwise, I would rather the books be in your homes and enjoyed by your children than have them back on the shelf collecting dust.

Returning the library books to the school is easy. Drop them with the security guard at the first gate. Please make sure you wipe the books down with disinfectant or hand sanitizer before you return them. Here is an article from the Institute of Museums and Libraries regarding library books and the spread of the novel coronavirus.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to me.

Stay Safe!

Sincerely,

Stephanie Creamer
