Halloween Picture Books

Halloween is fast upon us, and children already want something scary. Costumes are in various states of preparation. Who will be this year’s astronaut? How many will show up as Wonder Woman? Is there a werewolf among us? Will Wakanda rise again this year?
Come check out your Halloween inspiration from the library.
Toni Morrison Book Talk
Date: Sunday, Nov 3rd, 2019
Time: 11:00am-1:00pm
Book: The Source of Self-Regard: Selected Essays, Speeches, & Meditations
Location: Le Phare des Mamelles (you can buy brunch)
Email me (stephaniec@faculty.isd.sn) your interest in participating. As the day approaches, I can make a reservation with numbers of participants. Again, you can purchase The Source on Amazon. Do a quick search on Amazon for the book and click on the “Look Inside” tool. There you will find a brief two page essay, “The Dead of September 11”. Poetry, really, with all the magic that Morrison has to shape words that will inspire your sense of justice and simultaneously wrench the heart from your cavity. Morrison’s capacity for words leaves me wordless. After you email me your name and email or contact details, I will create a google doc and we can pick an essay (or essays) that we want to guide in brunch conversation. Don’t feel pressured to be overly academic. Let’s get together and simply love Morrison’s work.
