
This week provides a rich literacy environment for students, teachers, and parents to enjoy. The ISD Library is excited to host visiting illustrator E.B. Lewis. He will speak to ISD students and offer watercolor workshops, perform visual storytelling, demonstrate how to visualize a story, and sign his books. He has illustrated a wide range of children’s picture books. Click on his website to see the works he has illustrated.
Here is a list of days for you to mark in your calendar
Monday, 12 November: Reading Week Opening Ceremony. Come to the high school amphitheatre at 8:30am to watch teachers perform Danitra Brown, Class Clown and hear E.B. Lewis speak.
Tuesday, 13 November: The French teachers will host La Chaine de la Lecture in French classes.
Wednesday, 14 November: Breakfast with the author in the library at 7:45 - 8:20am. Come for croissants, yogurt, fruit, juices, coffee, and tea. The library will sell a limited amount of the illustrator’s books for 10,000cfa each, and you can have the author sign your copy. The EcoWarriors will make and sell bookmarks. The profit will go to a local school. Various other students are also making and selling bookmarks with the goal of raising funds to buy kindle books for the library. Come with your 500 francs to support students sales.
Thursday, 15 November: Watercolor workshops with the fifth grade students.
Friday, 16 November: E.B. Lewis will attend a local school for a visual art presentation there.
