Grade 5 Field Trip to Popenguine

The 5th grade concluded one of their units of inquiry with a field trip to the Popenguine area. Students had been learning about the stories of human-environment interaction all over the continent and the world, investigating the subtle, complex ways in which our actions and attitudes impact the world around us.

In Popenguine, they heard from fishermen, local students, and nature reserve guides, learning about the areas natural resources and the ways that human action has affected them over time. Students acted as journalists to interview local fishermen, and even helped haul in the day's catch!
