On Friday of last week, your child’s report card was sent to you electronically. Please let me know if you were not able to access the report and I will be happy to help you. The Managebac system for sharing reports worked well last trimester and I anticipate that it will work well again this trimester.
Early this month you received your child’s MAP scores in hard copy and on April 5th, you will be invited to school to attend your child’s(rens) student led conference where you will see your child’s portfolio complete with samples of work.
The report cards, MAP scores (Measured Annual Progress), and the student led conferences are just three of many ways we share your child’s progress with you. It is our hope that you will consider these three different ways of reporting collectively along with other measures like your child’s attitude about school, classroom based assessments, culminating classroom experiences, how they read to you at night, and how their friendships are progressing when you reflect on your child’s well being.
Just looking at the report card alone or the MAP score alone does not give you a full picture of your whole child. ISD’s goals are about raising up children who are strong in athletics, expressive in the arts, civically minded, strong both socially and emotionally, and of course, strong academically. If you’ve been to a Learner Profile Assembly lately, you seen first hand that we celebrate the strengths of all of our students. Kids who are happy in school tend to do better. Let’s continue to do our best as the adults and make sure that we consider the whole child as we determine what is best for our kids.
Parents, I want to thank you for raising such great kids. ISD is full of them! Kids who are well rounded, eager to participate, and consistently want to do the right thing. I appreciate your commitment as parents. It’s not always easy to make sure that your kids get enough sleep, that they eat a balanced meal, that they get enough water and on top of all that, find time to pursue their passions. You’re doing a great job and it shows!!! We appreciate the teamwork!
