Director's Dispatch: Save the Date

Save the Date

ISD Director, Dr. Alan Knobloch, will be hosting back-to-back parent meetings on Friday, November 1. This date was selected to give more parents the opportunity to attend as it is a Senegalese holiday.

What Children Need from Their Fathers – A Breakfast Conversation with Dads

8:00 to 9:00am

Dr. Knobloch, will make a brief presentation on how to raise a screen-smart kid based on the book of the same name by Julianna Miner.  The presentation will share ways parents can help children navigate the mine field of social media, cell phone use, and the internet.  This will be followed by a facilitated conversation between the fathers in attendance discussing their biggest challenges in raising children in Dakar. The discussions will be conducted in small groups arranged by age of the children and language, so fathers will be able to have conversations in French or English.

This session is only for fathers to allow for more candid conversations.  If there is sufficient interest, a follow-up presentation can be arranged for all ISD parents.

Director’s Coffee – An Update of ISD Today and a Discussion about ISD’s Future.

9:00 to 10:00am

This session is open to all ISD parents.  School administrators will provide an update on our school programs, the major construction projects, and what will come next in ISD’s development as a school.  Time will be set aside for parent’s questions.
