Director's Dispatch: Planning for 2021-22

Planning for the 2021-2022 school year is well underway including our health and safety guidelines. At this point, we do not yet know what school will look like in August of 2021. The following factors will help shape our health and safety guidelines.

  • Government of Senegal regulations

  • Advice from the World Health Organization and Center for Disease Control

  • Latest research about Covid and its transmission

  • State of the virus in Senegal

  • Percent of the faculty, staff, and parents who are vaccinated

We will announce the revised health and safety guidelines for the 2021-22 school year in early August.

Presuming the situation in Dakar does not become significantly worse, we anticipate students being able to move between classes more freely and being able to participate in some form of After-School Activities right away.

We were fortunate to have the school open for classes on campus for almost this entire year. This was due to the community following our health and safety guidelines. With a renewed commitment to revised health and safety guidelines, I am hopeful that school next year will more closely resemble school in 2019 than school in 2020.

You are invited to attend a virtual parent town hall on Tuesday, June 15 at 5:00 pm GMT focused on our health and safety guidelines for the 2021-2022 school year. I will present the current research and present some initial thoughts. You are also invited to share your thoughts and ask questions. Details will be sent closer to the date.
