Greetings from the ISD Board of Trustees!
We held our monthly Board meeting on 16 May 2019.
I would like to begin by thanking Grade 5 students; Ugaas Farah, Rion Miller and
Yanis El-Mdaghri who presented to the Board on their experiences in the Primary
Years Program (PYP). Their well-prepared, articulate and confident presentation
is a clear demonstration of the progress our students are making in the PYP.
The Board also received the results of the faculty survey and would like to thank
the faculty for their participation and feedback.
The Board adopted a motion to extend our current five-year Strategic Plan by a
year, turning it into a six-year plan. The added time will be used to evaluate the
success of the current plan and guide the process of the creation of a new
strategic plan.
The Board also adopted a new policy on Commitment to Sustainability whose
objective is to make ISD a carbon neutral school. We are proud to say that this
policy was actually brought to the Board by students who felt passionately that as
a school we ought to lead by example not just within ISD walls but also in the
larger Dakar region.
The Board had a first reading on two other policies regarding:
Travel expenses and reimbursements relating to teacher travels for professional development and recruiting
Who should have access to student records and information.
Finally, the Board is happy to announce the adoption of the full 2019 – 2020
school Calendar which can now be found on our website.
As always, you can contact the Board on boardbox@isd.sn .
Kind Regards,
Thiaba Camara Sy
