Greetings from the ISD Board of Trustees.
Coming back after the well-needed break, we held our January board meeting on Wednesday, January 26, 2022.
The board looked at and approved the Operating Budget for the 2022 – 2023 school year. This process which started in October provides the board and administration a financial plan for the school's expected revenues and expenses taking into account a number of assumptions. The capital budget which focuses on capital expenditures will be reviewed and voted on at the February meeting.
The board also conducted a first reading of the Visitor Photo Practices Policy which was introduced to provide guidelines on the use of photos or videos taken on campus by visitors who are not part of the ISD community. This is in an effort to safeguard our community and be in line with international child protection standards. Once approved, the policy will be shared with the ISD community.
Lastly, we also had a first reading of the Support Staff Retirement Fund Policy that will govern the recently approved retirement fund for local support staff with a primary goal to ensure a clear governance structure that will oversee the fair and proper disbursement of such funds. Further review will be conducted after questions and comments raised are taken into account.
The board continues to thank the administration, staff, and the entire ISD community for the continued support as we strive to keep the community safe while having in-person learning in these unpredictable times.
The Board also looks forward to welcoming incoming Director Sandy Mackenzie on his first visit to ISD with his family from the 14th to the 18th of February 2022.
The next Board meeting will be held in person on Wednesday, February 16, at 5:45pm with Sandy Mackenzie also in attendance.
Kind regards,
Birame SOCK
